For a large home where two living spaces meet, the Carbel I-80 double sided model is a strong option. It is a slow combustion fireplace built into the wall between two rooms, with glass on both faces and fans on both sides, so each room gets the flame view and a share of the 16KW of heat.

A fire for two rooms
A double sided built-in fireplace becomes the centrepiece of both spaces at once, for example a lounge on one side and a dining room or patio room on the other. It saves you running two fires and two flues.
Fan-assisted heat on both sides
This version has a ventilation system on each side, driven by four fans in total. The fans move warm air out into the rooms instead of letting it build up in the cladding, which helps heat a bigger area evenly. The V-board in the name is part of the built-in setup.
Large firebox, steady burn
The mild steel firebox measures 59.5 x 78.5 x 59.5 cm, big enough for a generous wood load. As a slow combustion fireplace it lets you turn the air down for a long, controlled burn, so you add wood less often through the evening.
Is the Carbel I-80 right for your home?
Its rated heating area is about 153.5 m2, so it suits large open-plan homes and two connected living spaces. It takes a 200 mm top flue. Compare it with other built-in fireplaces if one room is all you need to heat.

Does the Carbel I-80 need electricity?
The fire itself burns wood, but the fans need power. Without power the fireplace still burns and gives radiant heat, the warm air just is not pushed out as strongly. We plan a power point during the build.
Can it be fitted into an existing wall?
In many homes, yes, but the wall needs to be opened, supported and clad with non-combustible materials on both sides. We assess the wall, the floor and the flue route on site before we quote.
What does D/S mean in the name?
D/S stands for double sided. The glass and the fan outlets are on both faces of the fireplace, so you see the fire and feel the heat from both rooms.
