Description
Cast iron with an honest, no-fuss shape, the Dovre Brut 200 suits homeowners who want proper wood heat in a stove that does not take over the room. It stands 98 cm tall but only 39.5 cm wide, so it slips into a corner, beside a built-in cupboard or onto a modest hearth. Dovre has been making cast iron stoves for a long time, and the Brut line shows that heritage in a modern form.
Dovre Brut 200 Cast Iron Fireplace Features
Heat that lasts
The 105 kg cast iron body soaks up heat as the fire burns, then releases it slowly. Your lounge stays warm longer between reloads, and the warmth feels softer than the quick blast you get from thin steel.
A sensible 7kW fireplace
Many homes are overheated by a stove that is too big, forcing you to choke the air and blacken the glass. A 7kW fireplace like the Brut 200 runs at a healthy burn in a normal-sized room, which keeps the fire cleaner and saves wood.
Tall and slim
The footprint is 39.5 x 46 cm and the height 98 cm, which puts the fire close to eye level when you are seated. It connects to a standard 150 mm flue.
Is the Brut 200 right for your home?
As a rough guide, a 5 to 7kW wood fireplace suits a small to medium lounge of about 40 to 70 m² with a normal ceiling height. Large windows, high ceilings or poor insulation call for more heat. Send us your room size and we will confirm. You can also compare the full range of fireplaces we sell, or narrow it to freestanding fireplaces.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the stove with a 150 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing that handle Cape wind and winter rain, and we provide the compliance certificate. Read about our fireplace installation in Cape Town, or explore the Dovre fireplace range and our Dovre guide.
Dovre Brut 200 FAQs
Can the Dovre Brut 200 burn coal?
It is listed as a wood fireplace, so stick to dry, seasoned hardwood or wood briquettes. That protects the firebox and keeps the glass and flue cleaner.
Is the Dovre Brut a good choice for a narrow room?
Yes. At just 39.5 cm wide it needs far less wall space than most stoves. We still check the clearances to walls and furniture on site to make sure it is safe.
