Description
Raised up on its own pedestal, the Dovre Bow on Pedestal puts the flames where you can see them from the couch, not down at floor level. It is a solid cast iron wood fireplace from Dovre, built for homeowners who want steady heat and a classic shape that will not date.
Dovre Bow on Pedestal Wood Fireplace Features
Cast iron that holds its warmth
At 136 kg, the Bow is a heavy unit. All that cast iron soaks up heat while the fire burns and keeps giving it back to the room for a good while after the logs have died down. You get gentler, more even warmth and fewer cold corners.
Strong 9kW output
As a 9kW fireplace, the Bow has the power for a bigger living space. You can run it hard on a cold Cape evening or turn it down for a slow, steady burn once the room is warm.
Pedestal base for a lifted view
The pedestal lifts the firebox off the floor, which makes loading wood easier on the back and makes the fire more of a feature in the room. The unit measures 46 x 70 x 87 cm, so plan for a hearth plate that gives safe clearance in front.
Simple flue connection
It connects to a standard 150 mm flue, which keeps installation straightforward whether we run a new flue through the ceiling or connect to a suitable existing chimney.
Is the Dovre Bow right for your home?
As a rough guide, a fireplace in the 8 to 10kW range heats a larger lounge or open-plan area of about 70 to 120 m2. Ceiling height, glass and insulation all change that, so send us your room size and we will confirm. Compare it with our other freestanding fireplaces or read our Dovre fireplace guide.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Bow with the correct flue, cowl and roof flashing to handle the south-easter and winter rain, and we take care of the compliance certificate. Read about our fireplace installation in Cape Town or browse the full Dovre range.
Dovre Bow on Pedestal FAQs
Why choose a pedestal fireplace over one on legs?
A pedestal gives a cleaner, more solid look and raises the fire to a nicer viewing height. It also hides the space under the firebox, which some people prefer in a modern lounge.
Can the Dovre Bow connect to my existing chimney?
Often, yes, as long as the chimney is sound and the right size. We check the chimney on site and line it with a 150 mm flue where needed so the fire draws properly.
