Description
Most wood fireplaces are black. The Dovre Bold 400 White breaks that rule with a white E12 finish that sits beautifully against light walls, pale timber floors and modern coastal interiors. Underneath the colour it is a proper cast iron wood heater, with 7kW of output and the solid build Dovre is known for.
Dovre Bold 400 White E12 Features
A finish that suits bright rooms
A white cast iron fireplace reads as part of the furniture rather than a dark block in the corner. It works well in open-plan homes where the fire is visible from the kitchen and dining area, and it keeps a small room feeling light.
Cast iron for lasting warmth
At 145 kg, the Bold 400 has plenty of mass to store heat. Once it is up to temperature it keeps giving warmth after the flames settle, so a couple of logs go a long way through a Cape evening.
Tall shape, small footprint
The unit stands 113 cm high and takes up only 41.5 x 49 cm of floor. That makes it a good choice where wall space is limited but you still want a fire with presence. It connects to a 150 mm flue.
Is the Dovre Bold 400 right for your home?
As a rough guide, a 7kW wood fireplace suits a small to medium lounge of about 40 to 70 m2 with a standard ceiling. If your room is bigger or has lots of glass, we will help you look at a larger model in our freestanding fireplaces range. Our Dovre fireplace guide also explains how the Bold series compares.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and fits the Bold 400 with a matched flue, cowl and roof flashing that stand up to wind and winter rain, and we issue the compliance certificate when the job is done. See how our fireplace installation in Cape Town works, or browse the wider Dovre range.
Dovre Bold 400 White FAQs
Will the white finish stain from heat or smoke?
The finish is made for heat, so normal use will not discolour it. Wipe it only when the unit is cold, with a soft damp cloth. Burning dry wood also keeps smoke and soot away from the outside of the fire.
What size flue does the Bold 400 White E12 use?
It takes a 150 mm flue. We usually run a matte black or matching flue straight up through the ceiling, and we pick the cowl to suit how exposed your roof is.
Is 7kW enough for an open-plan home?
For a compact open-plan space it can be. For a large kitchen, dining and lounge area, a bigger unit may be better. Send us your floor plan and we will advise honestly.
