Description
The Morso 8143 is the 8100 series stove raised on a cast iron log store, so tonight’s firewood sits neatly under the fire instead of in a basket on the floor. Morsø has been casting iron stoves in Denmark for generations, and the 8143 carries that heritage: heavy, simple and made to last for decades of winters.
Morso 8143 Wood Stove Features
Log storage that earns its place
The base doubles as a log store. It keeps a good stack of dry wood within arm’s reach, keeps the hearth tidy and lifts the firebox so you see more of the flames when seated.
Heavy cast iron construction
At 182 kg, the 8143 is a serious piece of cast iron. That mass soaks up heat from the fire and releases it slowly, so the room stays warm well after the last log burns down. It also means the stove is built to give many years of use with basic care.
7.2kW of steady wood heat
A 7.2kW output is enough for a good sized lounge without roasting you out. Run it gently on a mild evening, or load it up when the north-wester brings in a cold front.
Size and flue
The stove measures 45 x 53 x 103.1 cm with its log storage base, and connects to a 150 mm flue. It needs a hearth that can carry the weight, which our team checks before installation.
Is the Morso 8143 right for your home?
As a rough guide, a stove in the 5 to 7kW band suits a medium lounge of roughly 40 to 70 m2 with a normal ceiling. High ceilings, large windows or an open-plan layout call for more heat, so send us your room size and photos and we will confirm the fit. You can compare it with our other freestanding fireplaces or the full fireplace range.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the 8143 with a 150 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing chosen for Cape wind and winter rain, and we handle compliance. See our fireplace installation in Cape Town page or browse all the Morso fireplaces we stock.
Morso 8143 FAQs
Is the Morsoe 8143 different from the Morso 8100?
The 8143 is part of the Morso 8100 series. It shares the same cast iron stove body, and adds the log storage base that raises the fire and gives you a place for wood.
Does the 8143 burn coal?
Our spec sheet lists wood as the fuel. Dry, seasoned hardwood gives the best heat and the cleanest glass in a cast iron stove like this.
Why are Morso fireplaces so heavy?
Thick cast iron is what gives Morsø stoves their long life and their slow, even heat. More iron means more stored warmth and less wear over the years.
