The body is cast iron and weighs 140 kg. Cast iron warms up steadily and keeps releasing heat after the fire burns low, which means a room that stays comfortable longer and less wood through the evening. It is the material Morso is known for.
A clean floor and a modern look
Because it hangs, the 7970 suits open-plan homes, modern renovations and rooms where floor space is tight. It measures 43.5 x 50.4 x 69.6 cm, a compact shape that reads like a piece of design on the wall.
Straightforward flue
The stove connects to a 150 mm flue. We run a matte black flue up through the ceiling and roof, so the line from fire to roof stays neat.
Is the Morso 7970 right for your home?
As a rough guide, a 7.6kW wood stove suits a lounge of roughly 60 to 80 m2 with a normal ceiling. Big windows, high ceilings or a draughty older home all need more heat. Can any wall hold a Morso 7970?
Not always. At 140 kg it needs a solid brick or concrete wall, or a properly built support. Drywall alone will not do. We inspect the wall on site and advise the safest way to mount it.
Does a wall hung fireplace need a chimney?
It needs a flue, not a brick chimney. We fit a 150 mm flue through the ceiling and roof, or connect to an existing chimney where it is safe and the draw is good.
What fuel does it burn?
It is a cast iron wood stove, so use dry, seasoned hardwood for the cleanest glass and best heat. Wet wood smokes and wastes energy.
