Description
The Franco Belge Monte Carlo is a large heater in every sense. It is a cast iron slow combustion stove with a 12.3KW output, aimed at homes with big open-plan spaces, double-volume lounges or rooms that never quite warm up with a smaller fire. If your current stove struggles in July, this is the step up.
Franco Belge Monte Carlo Fireplace Features
Cast iron mass for lasting warmth
At 180 kg, the Monte Carlo carries a lot of cast iron. As a cast iron fireplace, that mass soaks up heat while the fire burns and keeps releasing it long after, so the room stays comfortable through the evening and you use less wood to hold the temperature.
Side loading as standard
A side door lets you add logs from the side instead of opening the front glass. That keeps smoke in the firebox and makes refuelling easier, especially with a big load of wood.
Dual air control
Two air controls let you set the fire for a quick, hot start or a slow, steady burn. Turn it down at night and the stove ticks over gently.
Clean glass and easy ash
An air wash system runs air over the inside of the glass so the view stays clear. A separate ash tray lifts out for emptying without mess on the hearth.
Size and flue
The stove measures 60.8 x 73.5 x 80.4 cm and uses a 153 mm flue, so it needs a solid hearth and a planned flue route.
Is the Monte Carlo fireplace right for your home?
As a rough guide, stoves of 11kW+ suit very large rooms, open-plan areas or high ceilings, often well over 120 m2. In a small lounge it will be too hot, so share your floor plan and we will check the fit. You can compare it with other units in our freestanding fireplaces range.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Monte Carlo with the correct flue, cowl and roof flashing for Cape wind and winter rain, and handles compliance. Read about our fireplace installation in Cape Town or explore every Franco Belge fireplace we stock.
Franco Belge Monte Carlo FAQs
How big a space can the Monte Carlo heat?
With 12.3KW of output it is made for large open-plan areas and high ceilings. Room shape, insulation and glass all affect the result, so we confirm the size with you before you order.
What does side loading mean on a stove?
It means there is a door on the side of the stove for adding wood. You can feed the fire without opening the front glass door, which keeps smoke in and makes long logs easier to place.
