Description
A see-through fire makes a room feel special, and the Sentinel Marvic 950 Tunnel does it on a grand scale. Listed in full as the Sentinel Ottawa Marvic 950 Tunnel, this steel, double sided fireplace is 95 cm wide, so it reads as a proper feature wall between a lounge and dining room, or between living space and a covered patio.
Sentinel Marvic 950 Tunnel Double Sided Fireplace Features
One fire, two views
Glass on the front and the back means you can enjoy the flames from both rooms. As a room divider it keeps the space open and connected while still giving each side its own focal point.
Serious heating power
At 15KW, the Marvic 950 is one of the stronger tunnel fireplace options we stock. The output is rated to cover around 144 m2, and the 80.00% efficiency means more of each log ends up as heat in your home.
Built in or free standing
You can build it into a wall with a frame for a clean, flush finish, or stand it on a plinth as a statement piece. The 150 mm flue leaves from the top, and the unit measures 53.5 x 95 x 48 cm with a weight of about 175 kg, so the base needs to be solid.
Is the Marvic 950 Tunnel right for your home?
Sentinel rates it at 144 m2, so it suits large open-plan homes, double-volume rooms and two connected living areas. In a small lounge it will run too hot, and a smaller unit from our built-in fireplaces range would be a better fit. Our guide to heating two rooms with one fire covers the layout questions to think about.
Installation in Cape Town
A double sided built-in wood fireplace needs careful planning: wall structure, clearances, a straight 150 mm flue and a cowl that handles the south-easter. Our team designs the surround, builds it, fits the flue and finishes the cladding. See our built-in fireplace design and cladding service and the wider Sentinel range.
Marvic 950 Tunnel FAQs
Does a double sided fireplace heat both rooms equally?
Heat comes through both glass doors, so both sides benefit. The side you load from often feels a little warmer. Placing it between two spaces that are open to each other gives the most even result.
Can the Sentinel Marvic 950 Tunnel be used freestanding?
Yes. It can be built into a wall with a frame or set on a plinth as a freestanding feature. We help you choose based on your floor, wall and flue route.
