Description
The Kratki MILA T/G is a large double-sided built-in fireplace for homes where one fire needs to serve two spaces. Extra wide panoramic glass on both faces gives a full view of the flames from each room, and a rise-and-fall door lifts up out of the way when you load wood. You may also see it listed as the Kartki MILA, a common misspelling of the Polish maker’s name.
Kratki MILA T/G Double-Sided Fireplace Features
A view from both rooms
Because the glass runs across both sides, the fire becomes the centre of a lounge and dining room, or a living area and a passage, without a wall blocking the view. It works well as a room divider in open-plan homes and in large renovations where a plain wall would feel heavy.
Serious heat from a heavy steel body
At 22kW this is one of the strongest wood burners we sell. The steel body weighs 370 kg, and the firebox is lined with Kratki’s heat-intensifying ceramics, which hold warmth and keep sending it into the room long after the logs burn down.
Lift-up door for easy loading
The rise-and-fall door slides up into the frame, so there is no swinging door to work around when the room is busy. Add a log, lower the glass and the fire carries on.
Built-in sizing and flue
The unit measures 109.3 x 68.3 x 120 cm and vents through a 200 mm flue from the top. A fire of this size needs a proper chimney breast or cladded surround, which is why we plan the build and the flue route together.
Is the MILA T/G right for your home?
Kratki rates the MILA T/G to heat between 210 and 550 cubic metres, which suits big open-plan homes, double-volume lounges and rooms with high ceilings. In a small lounge it would be far more fire than you need. Have a look at our other built-in fireplaces if your space is more modest, or read our Kratki fireplace buyer’s guide to compare models.
Installation in Cape Town
A fireplace this heavy needs a solid floor, a well-planned surround and a flue that copes with the Cape Doctor and heavy winter rain. Our team handles the whole job, from structural checks and the 200 mm flue to the cowl, roof flashing and final cladding. See our built-in fireplace design and cladding service for how we work, and browse the full Kratki range we supply.
Kratki MILA T/G FAQs
Does a double-sided fireplace heat both rooms equally?
Both faces give off radiant heat through the glass, so each room feels the fire. The room with better insulation and fewer open doors will usually feel warmer. We look at your floor plan first and advise on where the unit should sit.
Can the MILA T/G go into an existing fireplace opening?
Usually the opening needs to be rebuilt, because the unit is wide, tall and very heavy, and both faces must be open to a room. We assess the floor, wall and chimney on site and design a surround that suits the fire.
