For a patio where people gather every weekend, the Chad-O-Chef Entertainer Gas Braai gives you a permanent cooking station that looks neat and lights at the turn of a knob. It is a stainless steel built-in box with a Chad-O-Chef Sizzler gas insert already included, designed and made in South Africa by Chad-O-Chef.
Chad-O-Chef Entertainer Gas Braai Options Explained
The Entertainer is sold as a range, so you build the one that fits your home. There are three simple choices.
1. Burners: 4, 5 or 6
More burners give you a wider grill and more zones to cook at different heats. A 4 burner suits most families. A 5 or 6 burner is the one to pick if you often feed a crowd. Chad-O-Chef lists the 4 burner box at 90 x 80 x 50 cm, the 5 burner at 107.5 x 80 x 50 cm and the 6 burner at 125 x 80 x 50 cm, so the extra burners mainly add width.
2. Material: stainless or 316 stainless
Standard stainless steel is a sound choice for inland suburbs. If you live close to the sea, from Bloubergstrand to Fish Hoek, the 316 stainless steel option is the better buy. It is a marine grade that resists salt air far better, so the box keeps its finish for longer.
3. Draught: natural or forced
A natural draught unit vents into a normal chimney with no fan, which suits an open patio. A forced draught unit uses an extractor system and is the right call for an enclosed braai area. Forced draught needs extra parts, such as ducting, a mock flue, an extractor motor, a damper or a weather dome, which we quote separately.

Is the Entertainer right for your home?
As a true built-in gas braai, it must be built in on site, so it suits a new patio, a braai room or a renovation rather than a quick swap. Chad-O-Chef also notes the doors should stay open while the braai is on or still hot. Compare it with our other built-in braais and gas braais.

Should I choose natural or forced draught for my Entertainer?
Choose natural draught if the braai sits on an open patio with a normal chimney. Choose forced draught if the space is enclosed and smoke needs help to get out. Send us photos and we will advise.
Is 316 stainless worth it in Cape Town?
If you live within reach of sea air, yes. Salt is hard on ordinary stainless steel over time. The 316 marine grade holds up better and keeps the braai looking good for longer.
