Description
The Morso 7948 Pedestal is a stove you watch as much as you use. Morsø, the cast iron specialist, lifted the combustion chamber onto a slim pedestal and wrapped it in glass at the front and on both sides. The result is a fire you can enjoy from the couch, the dining table or the kitchen, with a light, elegant look that suits open-plan living.
Morso 7948 Pedestal Features
Flames from every angle
The very large window section runs across the front and around the sides. Wherever you sit in the room, you get a clear view of the flames. It is the main reason buyers choose the Morsø 7948 over a more closed design.
Raised for comfort and style
Setting the firebox on a pedestal brings the fire closer to eye level when you are seated and makes the stove look lighter than its weight suggests. It also makes loading wood easier, as you do not have to bend down as far.
Cast iron that holds heat
At 156 kg, the stove is solid cast iron. It warms up gradually and keeps giving off steady heat after the logs burn low, which keeps the room even and comfortable through the evening.
Size and flue
The 7948 stands 115.7 cm tall, with a footprint of 43.5 x 50.4 cm, and connects to a 150 mm flue. It burns wood and has a 7.6kW output.
Is the 7948 right for your home?
As a rough guide, a 7 to 8kW wood stove suits a medium to large lounge of about 40 to 70 m2, more in a well insulated home. Because the glass shows off the fire so well, it shines as a centre or corner piece in an open-plan room. Compare it with our other freestanding fireplaces or the full fireplace range.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the 7948 with a 150 mm flue, a cowl built for Cape wind and roof flashing that keeps out winter rain, and we look after the compliance certificate. Read about our fireplace installation in Cape Town or browse more Morso fireplaces from the Danish maker.
Morso 7948 FAQs
Why choose a pedestal fireplace?
A pedestal raises the fire, so you see it better from a seat and load it without crouching. It also gives a lighter, more modern look than a stove on legs, and it suits open rooms where the fire is seen from many sides.
Does the side glass get dirty quickly?
Glass stays cleanest when you burn dry, seasoned wood with enough air. Damp wood and a closed-down fire cause soot. A wipe with a damp cloth and some ash when the stove is cold usually clears it.
