Description
If you love the look and crackle of an open fire, the Jetmaster Lynx 850 gives you one without the cost and mess of building a brick chimney. It is a freestanding open fireplace in mild steel, with a traditional, compact shape that sits neatly in a corner or works as the centrepiece of a room.
Jetmaster Lynx 850 Features
Classic open fire
The Lynx 850 is all about the open flame. There is no glass between you and the fire, so you hear it, smell the wood and feel the radiant heat straight away. It burns wood or charcoal, which makes it easy to keep stocked.
Choice of grates
Like other Jetmaster 850 models, the Lynx is offered with a basket grate and pan, a log pan or a gas grate, so you can set it up for logs, charcoal or a gas log fire later on. Ask us which option suits how you plan to use it.
Heavy-duty mild steel body
The outer body is made from heavy-duty mild steel and measures 42 x 87.8 x 116.5 cm. That gives a solid, upright stance and enough presence to anchor a room without overwhelming it.
Rectangular flue
The Lynx connects to a 225 x 165 mm flue, and Jetmaster pairs it with a rotating cowl that helps the fire draw in changing wind.
Is the Lynx 850 right for your home?
Jetmaster rates the Lynx 850 at about 68 square metres on wood with the basket grate, so it suits a standard lounge or family room. An open fire is about atmosphere as much as heat, so for very large or draughty spaces a closed combustion stove may serve you better. Installation in Cape Town
Our team installs the Lynx 850 with the correct flue, cowl and roof flashing for Cape wind and winter rain, and we make sure the hearth and clearances are right. See our fireplace installation service.
Lynx 850 FAQs
Is the Jetmaster Lynx 850 an open or closed fireplace?
It is an open fireplace. There is no glass door, so you enjoy the full flame and the sound of the fire, with heat radiating straight into the room.
Can the Lynx 850 run on gas?
Jetmaster offers a gas grate for the Lynx, so a gas log setup is possible. A gas installation needs a registered installer and a certificate of compliance, which our team can arrange.
Can I install it myself?
Jetmaster supplies a DIY manual, but the flue has to pass safely through your ceiling and roof. We recommend a professional install for safety and insurance.
