Clean glass and a clear view
Secondary air is fed over the inside of the glass as an airwash. It helps keep soot off the window, so you see the fire, not a grey film, and you spend less time cleaning.
A firebox made for easy living
The combustion chamber is lined with heat-resistant vermiculite and has an integrated grate and ash box, so emptying ash is quick and tidy. A self-closing door adds peace of mind in a home with children or pets.

As a wood burning fireplace it takes logs, wood briquettes or brown coal briquettes, and it connects to a 150 mm flue. At 40 x 55 x 122.8 cm it has a small footprint, which helps in a narrow lounge or beside a window.

Does the sandstone get hot?
The stone panels get warm while the fire is burning and then give off gentle heat after the flames die down. They are part of the design, so you still need a hearth plate and the normal safe distances to walls and furniture.
Can the Orpheus burn briquettes instead of logs?
Yes. Wamsler made it for wood, wood briquettes and brown coal briquettes. Briquettes are handy when dry firewood is hard to find and they tend to give a longer, steadier burn late in the evening.
