Description
Sometimes you want to braai without waiting an hour for coals. The Northern Flame 590mm gas insert gives you that option. It is a 2 burner gas braai in a stainless steel housing that drops into an existing wood braai or stands on a counter as a tabletop unit, so you can cook in minutes and still light a wood fire when you have time.
Northern Flame 590mm Gas Insert Features
Two strong burners
The braai runs two Arrow U-burners, each rated at 30 000 BTU, with 304 grade stainless steel burner tubes. The U shape spreads heat across the grid, and each burner adjusts quickly, so you can sear meat on one side and keep food warm on the other.
Reliable ignition
A dual spark, solid brass ignition lights the burners first time, so there is no messing about with matches and firelighters.
Easy cleaning
The heavy-duty stainless grid is reversible. Underneath, a fat trap and a removable drip tray that runs the full width slide out for cleaning, so grease does not build up inside the unit.
Built to handle the weather
The body is made from 304 and 430 stainless steel with a black powder-coated front. It measures 49.5 x 59 x 24 cm and weighs about 22 kg, so it is easy to place on a counter.
Insert or tabletop gas braai?
Both. As a gas braai insert it sits inside your existing braai, giving you gas and wood in one space. As a table top gas braai it works on any stable, non-combustible counter in a ventilated area. Busy parents love it for feeding the kids early while the wood fire gets going for the adults. Compare other gas braais or the Northern Flame range, and read our guide to built-in gas braais.
Installation in Cape Town
The LPG bottle and gas connections are not included. Our team supplies the right regulator and hose, connects the unit and issues a gas certificate of compliance. See our gas installation and CoC service.
Northern Flame 590mm FAQs
Will the 590mm insert fit into my wood braai?
In most standard built-in braais, yes. We check the opening size and ventilation, then fit it so you can still use the wood side.
Is it a sizzler or a proper gas braai?
It is a proper gas braai with a grid and two U-burners, not a flat sizzler plate.
Does it come with a warranty?
Yes. Northern Flame covers the burner for one year under a limited warranty.
